Curran Contracting is proud to announce that we have partnered with ENERGY STAR and will be participating in the ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry. This call-to-action challenge aligns with three of Curran’s five core values: improvement, partnership and integrity. The challenge is to reduce our plants energy intensity by 10 percent within 5 years. Curran’s asphalt plant manager, James Cassem, will be tracking and managing the plants energy usage over the next five years using Curran plant data from 2022 as his baseline. To qualify for the challenge, Cassem needed to have the plant satisfy an EPA environmental compliance criteria screen.

ENERGY STAR is a government program between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Energy. Their shared mission is to promote energy efficiency and to recognize energy efficient companies with a blue ENERGY STAR logo.

“Well, most everyone recognizes this little blue label, they might not know what it means. The ENERGY STAR label stands for efficiency, sustainability and protecting the environment through energy efficient practices. By partnering with ENERGY STAR, we have gained access to new tools and proven practices that will help us become more energy efficient and lower our greenhouse gas emissions.” said Cassem.
