Project Description

This exciting project in Grayslake, Illinois required Curran to reconstruct a road located in a saturated wetland where the conditions led to settling and deterioration.  Our crews replaced the base of the existing roadway with Styrofoam blocks (expanded polystyrene fill) that allowed the roadway to “float” over the marshland.  This float served as a bridge between the unsuitable soils and allowed us to backfill and repave the roadway with asphalt pavement.
